Job Profile


There is an opening for the above position within the Recreation and Culture Division of the Community Services Department available immediately. Reporting to the Manager of Recreation, Placemaking Capital Projects, the following duties will apply:

What you will be doing

  • The Landscape Architect is responsible for the design and planning of a large volume of projects in parks, trails, recreation, sports fields, cemeteries, public realm, and other facilities city-wide.

  • This position involves conducting site inventories and analysis (including coordinating survey crews); preparing/reviewing conceptual and working drawings; writing proposals, quotations, tenders, and specifications.

  • Handling all aspects of project management (i.e. scheduling, project communications, site supervision, inspections, and reporting) and contract administration (monitoring the costs, processing purchase orders, progress payments, certifications, etc.)

  • Developing specifications and standard drawings for landscape infrastructure

  • Acts as a consultative advisor to Planning, Engineering, and other city departments.

  • Represents City parks, trails and public realm interests on Region of Waterloo led projects that affect the City of Cambridge.

Education


Undergraduate Level - Four years or equivalent in Landscape Architecture or Similar.

Experience and Knowledge

  • Five (5) years of previous related experience, preferably in a municipal environment.
  • Highly proficient computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite and AutoCAD.
  • Full membership with seal in the Ontario Association of Landscape Architects (OALA) is preferred.

Your compensation


This position is within Grade 12 of the Inside Workers union salary schedule, the hourly salary range is $54 - $57.40. We offer a comprehensive benefits package and are an Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS) employer.

Hours of work


The current regular hours of work are in accordance with the collective agreement, and currently are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 pm. (35 hours per week), Monday to Friday.
