Senior Project Manager (Retail)
responsible for leading the successful delivery of complex Industrial, Commercial, and Institutional (ICI) construction projects from pre-construction through close-out. This role demands an experienced construction professional with exceptional leadership skills, strong financial acumen, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders while ensuring adherence to schedule, budget, quality, and safety standards. This position is ideal for someone with experience delivering
ground-up retail construction projects
, including supermarkets, pharmacies, and large-format big box stores.

You will collaborate closely with Directors of Construction, Project Coordinators, Site Superintendents, clients, consultants, and trade partners to deliver projects safely, profitably, and to the highest quality standards.

  • Pay Rate: $145K to $160K/annually
  • Location: Calgary, AB
  • Job type: Permanent| Full-time

Responsibilities:

  • Lead projects through the full lifecycle, including pre-construction, procurement, construction, commissioning, and close-out
  • Develop, manage, and track detailed project schedules, budgets, cash flow forecasts, and cost controls
  • Administer contracts and oversee RFIs, submittals, change orders, and document control processes
  • Proactively identify project risks and implement effective mitigation strategies to minimize impact
  • Maintain full accountability for project financial performance, including profitability and margins
  • Review and approve project forecasts, cost reports, progress billings, and change orders
  • Negotiate and manage agreements with subcontractors and suppliers
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and transparent financial reporting
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to Project Coordinators and project teams
  • Foster a collaborative, respectful, and high-performance team environment
  • Work closely with Site Superintendents to support execution and resolve site-level challenges
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, and key project stakeholders
  • Lead project meetings and maintain clear, proactive communication throughout the project lifecycle
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients and trade partners
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with Alberta OHS regulations and company safety programs
  • Uphold quality control and quality assurance standards across all phases of the project
  • Support COR-aligned safety initiatives and actively participate in site audits

Qualifications & Experience

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in ICI construction, including senior-level project management roles
  • Demonstrated success delivering complex projects across commercial, institutional, industrial, healthcare, and/or multi-storey sectors
  • Strong expertise in construction contracts, scheduling, cost control, and project delivery methods
  • Experience working in Alberta, with solid knowledge of local codes, trades, and regulatory requirements
  • Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Proficiency with industry-standard construction management software (e.g., Procore, CMiC, MS Project, Primavera P6)
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and negotiation skills
  • Valid driver's license in good standing, with flexibility to travel to project sites and other provinces as required
  • Mu st be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
