Northside Collaborative practice is a private family physician practice that is part of a supportive, collaborative group of five physicians. The clinic benefits from a long-term, dedicated administrative assistant with over 18 years of experience, offering exceptional continuity and a wealth of knowledge. The team also includes an RN and LPN who are readily available for questions and assistance, fostering a collegial and efficient work environment. Social work services are integrated into the practice, enhancing patient care through a team-based approach. The clinic uses the Accuro EMR system to support seamless coordination and high-quality care delivery.

Job Description

Northside Collaborative practice is seeking a Family Physician to provide Locum coverage forJuly 27 - Aug 7, 2026 .

Locum physicians provide coverage for family practices, including inpatient and nursing home care, as well as specialist hospital and office coverage as requested. Compensation includes a minimum daily income guarantee of $1,200 for family physicians ($600 for half-day), with additional earnings if shadow billings exceed this amount. Travel expenses, including kilometrage, per diems, accommodations (up to $300 per night), and airfare (up to $1,500), are reimbursed, along with travel time up to 10 hours per week. Licensing fees for CPSNS are covered, and locum physicians may claim Facility On Call fees under specific conditions.

North Sydney is a community of 5,700 people (2016) on the eastern shore of Cape Breton Island on the north shore of Sydney Harbour. As the service center for the ferry traffic to Newfoundland and Labrador, North Sydney has several restaurants and hotels locally and in the surrounding area to cater to travelers.
The Summer months in Cape Breton are particularly special as there is numerous beaches, many community activities including world class golf courses, hiking, biking, and kayaking are all nearby. Winter months are spectacular as well with majestic snowmobile trails, x-country skiing, snowshoeing and two ski hills nearby with one having the first gondola in Eastern Canada. You will also be a short 40-minute drive to the start of the world-famous Cabot Trail.
