<p><h3>Job description</h3><p><p><p>Thompson Construction Group has an opening for a General Superintendent working from our operations area in Fort McMurray, AB.</p><p><b>Responsibilities:</b></p><ul><li>Provide construction direction and oversight to project team comprised of surveyors, estimators, PM’s, PCs, and site Superintendents.</li><li>Coordinate Site Superintendents and project workforce needs.</li><li>Manage project activities throughout lifecycle, including the allocation of adequate resources, scheduling, documentation, budget, and other factors necessary for success.</li><li>Oversee total construction effort to ensure project is completed in accordance with budget and schedule.</li><li>Plan, coordinate and/or supervise activities of all company personnel on assigned project(s).</li><li>Ensure all company, client, and project policies, procedures, standards, etc., are adhered to.</li><li>Provide direction to planning, scheduling, and engineering functions as required.</li><li>Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.</li></ul><p><b>Qualifications:</b></p><ul><li>Completion of a Construction, Technical Diploma, C.E.T. or Engineering Degree.</li><li>10 or more years of Earthworks Construction experience.</li><li>A solid understanding of all construction trades and construction techniques.</li><li>Strong management, delegation, planning and leadership skills.</li><li>Effectiveness in the areas of construction safety and productivity.</li><li>Superior leadership qualities with a demonstrated track record of dealing successfully with internal and external customers.</li><li>Able to effectively communicate with all types of staff, including laborers, technical, professional, and upper management.</li><li>Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to exercise necessary cost control measures.</li><li>Possess a valid driver’s license.</li><li>Strong working knowledge of Microsoft computer software (e.g. Excel, Word, etc.),</li><li>Must be able to pass a pre-access drug and alcohol test.</li><li>Must have:</li><li>Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS) Certification;</li><li>Oil Sands Safety Association (OSSA) Certification;</li><li>Leadership for Safety Excellence.</li></ul><p><b>Additional Information:</b></p><p>The above statements describe the nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.
