Position Summary
The Executive Director (ED) serves as the operational leader of the Stober Foundation, responsible for translating the Stober Family's philanthropic vision into measurable and lasting impact. The ED provides overall leadership in strategy, governance, operations, programs, and external relations, ensuring the Foundation operates with integrity, transparency, and excellence.
This role requires a dynamic, relationship-driven leader who can balance vision and execution, guiding the Foundation through thoughtful growth, community collaboration, and meaningful philanthropic outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership & Philanthropic Oversight
- Lead the design, execution, and evaluation of the Foundation's strategic plan and philanthropic priorities.
- Ensure all activities align with the Stober Family's values, giving principles, and long-term vision.
- Identify new opportunities for innovation, partnership, and social impact.
- Provide regular strategic updates, insights, and recommendations to the President and Board.
2. Governance & Board Relations
- Serve as the primary liaison between the Foundation's operations and the Stober Family/Board.
- Support effective governance through timely reporting, policy development, and strategic input.
- Ensure that governance practices meet or exceed standards of nonprofit accountability and transparency.
- Responsible for understanding, upholding, and ensuring compliance with all applicable nonprofit governance protocols and regulatory obligations.
- Develop, implement, and maintain compliance strategies and procedures.
- Report to and attend the Annual General Meeting.
3. Resource Development
- Cultivate and steward relationships with donees and philanthropic partners
- Identify opportunities for co-funding, matching grants, and collaborative giving.
- Promote philanthropic partnerships that amplify the Foundation's impact.
4. Program & Project Management
- Oversee the planning and evaluation of the Foundation's signature initiatives, including:
- District 7 Community Engagement Program – Launch events, program delivery, and content creation.
- Tree of HOPE – Annual community initiative including recipient selection, delivery, and media promotion.
- Stober Group International Portfolio – Develops, Builds, and Optimizes humanitarian partnerships.
- State of the Foundation Address – Development of the Foundation's annual message and video presentation.
- Contribute monthly news to the Stober Group Pulse, Foundation Blog and Quarterly organizational updates
- Ensure project alignment with strategic objectives, budgets, and measurable outcomes.
5. Impact Measurement & Learning
- Develop and implement systems to measure program outcomes and philanthropic impact.
- Use data and evaluation tools to inform strategy, improve effectiveness, and demonstrate accountability.
- Promote a culture of continuous generosity, serving and giving back across the organization.
6. Stakeholder Engagement, Communications & Brand
- Serve as the Foundation's primary spokesperson and ambassador
- Represent the Foundation at community events, charity functions, and philanthropic forums.
- Advance the Foundation's reputation as a trusted, values-driven philanthropic leader.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's in Nonprofit Leadership, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- 7–10+ years of senior leadership experience in philanthropy, nonprofit management, social impact or related field
- Proven record of strategic leadership, partnership development and organizational leadership
- Experience with, financial management and budgeting, and cross-sector collaborations.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and engage effectively with high-level stakeholders and community leaders.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to excellence, integrity and character
- Experience in international or cross-cultural philanthropic work considered an asset.
