<h3>Job Description</h3><p>Job Description<p><p><strong>Role</strong></p><p><em>Reporting to the Discipline Lead - Distribution, the Distribution Engineer/Designer is responsible for communicating directly with clients and customers to establish service requirements and provide solid design solutions and alternatives that meet client needs. Distribution Engineer/Designer will work with landowners, customers, and other client departments to ensure that the projects are effectively coordinated and executed by yourself. They will ensure that facilities are designed in a safe, cost-effective and timely manner and meet all applicable codes, standards and regulations. </em></p><p></p><p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Independently execute the design of rural and urban distribution infrastructure including but not limited to: line rebuilds, cable/equipment upgrades, voltage conversions, customer <span >connections/upgrades,</span> joint use applications, URD, <span >DER/microgeneration</span> interconnection, and more.</li><li>Provide technical reviews and quality assurance on project deliverables prepared by junior and intermediate staff.</li><li>Coordinate with clients, landowners, utility companies, and third-party stakeholders to secure approvals and resolve technical or permitting challenges.</li><li>Proactively monitor project progress, proactively identifying risks, constraints, and opportunities to maintain scope, budget, and schedule.</li><li>Conduct site assessments and field reviews to validate design feasibility, support construction, and ensure alignment with good engineering and construction practices.</li><li>Identify and address safety and environmental risks within project designs, implementing solutions in compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements.</li><li>Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, designers, and drafters, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing.</li><li>Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including the development of design standards, processes, and best practices.</li></ul><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Degree in Electrical Engineering or related Engineering degree required, or Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited post-secondary institution.</li><li>2 – 8 years of distribution experience is preferred but not required.</li><li>Possess a working knowledge of Alberta Electrical Utility Code, CSA C22.3 No. 1 and No. 7 for Overhead and Underground Systems and the Canadian Electrical Code.</li><li>Proficient in or capable of using PLSCadd, Pull Planner, AutoCAD, Microstation, Bluebeam, AGI32, and CYMEdist.</li><li>Experience in construction and field installations an asset.</li><li>Experience in distribution system planning would be considered an asset.
