Job Description:

Our established public company client is looking for a Director of Accounting to join their finance and accounting team. This person will need to bring strong expertise in accounting and financial reporting standards, as well as proven leadership experience as well.


Responsibilities of the Director of Accounting is as follows:


  • Oversee day-to-day accounting functions including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and cash management.

  • Oversee monthly close, audit requirements, and other activities in the accounting cycle for multiple business units within our ecosystem.

  • Manage corporate accounting processes, review and approve complex journal entries.

  • Ensure all accounts are reconciled and maintain strong internal controls over financial reporting.

  • Lead real estate accounting function, including financial reporting and monthly financial close cycle (rent rolls, utility bills, CAM and property tax reconciliations, and intercompany billings for shared properties).

  • Oversee our outsourced tax accounting and compliance function.

  • Support customs-related financial processes and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements for imported goods.

  • Support quarterly and annual public company filings and assist with board-level presentation materials as needed.

  • Lead, develop, and coach a team of finance and accounting professionals, building engagement and driving strong performance.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes through Oracle ERP and MMHF for detailed sales and inventory reporting.

  • Collaborate with external auditors for interim reviews and year-end audits.

  • Support ad hoc requests, special projects, and strategic initiatives as they arise.

  • Identify and implement improvements in accounting processes and internal controls, with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and automation.

    Job Requirements:

  • CPA designation required.

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in finance and accounting roles, including leadership.

  • Strong expertise in operational finance, divisional reporting, and cash management.

  • Experience with franchise finance and customs compliance is an asset.

  • Excellent planning, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Proven track record of driving process improvements and delivering measurable business results.
