Role
Reporting to the Manager, Recreational Facilities, the Assistant Manager, Recreation (Golf/Bowling) oversees the daily operation of the Southport Golf Club Clubhouse, Southport Bowl, and The Approach Golf Simulator Lounge. This role involves assisting with site operations, providing exceptional customer services, participating in the creation and achievement of all performance targets, assisting with budgeting for operational and capital requirements, and recruiting, training, and mentoring affiliated recreation staff.

Duties & Responsibilities
Southport Golf Club Clubhouse
- Oversee the daily operation of the clubhouse during the golf season, managing seasonal staff, scheduling, kitchen management, catering coordination, inventory acquisition and tracking, and weekly financial reconciliations.
- Provide leadership and supervision of part‑time and full‑time seasonal staff.
- Coordinate and manage special events held at the club, including correspondence with event hosts, procurement of supplies, creation and follow‑up of event coordination charters, and budgeting for events and tournaments.
- Work with the Marketing Team and Manager, Recreational Facilities to develop marketing strategies for current and upcoming golf seasons and implement plans.
- Manage golf membership and storage contracts.
- Actively seek opportunities for scheduling special events at the club in collaboration with the Manager, Recreational Facilities and the Southport Marketing team.
- Provide administrative support, including monthly golf newsletters, early‑bird golf membership sales, invoicing, and financial tracking.
Southport Bowl
- Oversee the daily operation of Southport Bowl, working with scheduling and producing contracts for league bowling groups and non‑profit organizations, supervising and training staff, and managing materials and kiosk inventory.
- Work with the Manager, Recreational Facilities to maintain the bowl equipment and assets, including preventative maintenance, development of Steltronic scoring system features, general cleaning, and oversight of operations.
Job Requirements
- Holds a certificate or degree in Recreation Management, Event Coordination, Hospitality or Restaurant Management, or Creative Communications; demonstrated experience may be considered in lieu of certifications.
- Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Previous customer service experience.
- Minimum one (1) year of previous supervisory experience, with demonstrated conflict resolution, staff scheduling, and coaching skills.
- Previous experience budgeting and reporting for fiscal purposes.
- Previous experience in event planning preferred.
- Previous experience working within the Restaurant/Hospitality sector highly regarded.
- Ability to take direction and work effectively both individually and as part of a team, with minimal supervision.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
- Excellent time‑management skills and ability to prioritize work.
- Must be of legal age to serve alcohol.
- Attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.
- Desire for growth and learning.

- Sunday‑Thursday work schedule preferred; other schedules may be accommodated for the right individual.
