<h3>Job Description</h3><p>Job Description<p><p><strong>QUALIFICATIONS:</strong></p><ul><li>Minimum three-year Child and Youth Worker Diploma.</li><li>Direct experience with at-risk populations for a minimum of 2 years.</li><li>Experience in harm reduction, safety planning, and crisis intervention.</li><li>Experience in working within an Anishinabe Child and Family Well-Being Services is preferred.</li><li>The ability to speak the Anishinaabe language is a definite asset and / or willingness for continual learning.</li></ul><p><br /></p><p><strong>SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES:</strong></p><ul><li>Sound knowledge of the Anishinabek culture and the principal issues affecting the mental health of Anishinabek children, families, and communities in the Districts of Sudbury and Manitoulin.</li><li>Promote and apply Anishinabek Culture, values, traditions, and teachings in the work of the Service teams where appropriate.</li><li>Develop and maintain respectful, cooperative working relationships with Anishinabek children, families, communities, and service workers to promote an integrated, seamless delivery of service.</li><li>Applying an attitude and practice model that promotes flexibility, diversity, and engagement with marginalized populations.</li><li>Knowledge and understanding of flexible, diverse, traditional, and non- traditional support, advocacy, and intervention processes.</li><li>Comprehension of at-risk youth-related issues, such as mental health and addictions, gender <span >orientation/identity,</span> peer/social culture, violence, teen pregnancy, human trafficking, drug trafficking, etc.</li><li>Awareness of micro and macro community social systems, structures, and issues.</li><li>Familiarity of community assets and asset mapping procedures.</li><li>Facilitate, coordinate, and promote group programming and workshops on a variety of social issues and topics.</li><li>Familiarity of case management systems, reporting procedures and responsibilities and the ability to work within those systems.</li><li>Managing crisis and adverse situations with staff, youth, and families.</li><li>Knowledge and understanding of health and safety practices related to outreach work and Universal Care precautions.</li><li>Understand the Child, Youth and Family Services Act, the Mental Health Act and other relevant legislation.</li></ul><p><br /></p><p><strong>WORK ENVIRONMENT:</strong></p><ul><li>Given the traditional practices of the Anishinabek, from time-to-time exposure to wood smoke and the burning of sacred medicines, including tobacco, sweet grass, sage, or cedar, may occur within the work setting.</li><li><strong>Candidates must live within service area.</strong></li></ul><p><br /></p><p>Applicants are encouraged to visit our website at <strong><span >www.kgcfs.org/employment</span></strong> to review the job description.<br><br></p><p>KGCFS offers competitive wages.</p></p></p>Create Your Resume First
