Job Description

CWS Logistics requires a TRANSPORT TRAILER TECHNICIAN for our Winnipeg shop.

We have a fleet of 200 heated and dry van trailers that we maintain at our Winnipeg shop. We offer benefits, RRSP matching and weekday only shifts. Boot allowance is offered after 1 successful year of employment.  PPE is provided and many shop specific tools also provided.

Qualifications:
  • Safety inspection certificate an asset.
  • Journeyman certificate an asset.
  • 1st, 2nd and 3rd year apprentice proven experience.   
  • Welding experience an asset.
  • Experience with 53' van trailers.
  • Experience on Solara Heater units an asset.
  • Drivers License 5 and or Class 1A license an asset.
  • No existing allergy to agriculture chemicals or pesticides.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak basic English.
  • Must be able to do basic math calculations.   
  • Capable of using diagnostic tools and computer.
  • Must have full set of hand tools.
  • Excellent focus and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work as a team and independently.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to wear various personal protective equipment (PPE) including fall protection.
  • Will be trained on TDG, WHMIS, forklift and first-aid.

 
Duties:
  • Perform preventative and scheduled maintenance on van trailers and converter dollies.
  • Perform MPI (Manitoba) standard safety inspections for commercial vehicles.
  • Follow work order/repair process and documentations.
  • Inspect and test mechanical units such as: lights, air systems, axles and ABS brake systems.
  • Adjust, repair, replace parts/components of trailer systems including: frame, body, engines, fuel system, electrical systems on Solara heaters.
  • Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of trailer systems including structural, brake and electrical systems.
  • Comply and participate with Canada Labour Code Part II (health and safety regulations).
  • Comply to CWS policies and procedures as well as industry standards.
  • Report near misses and accidents.
  • Perform all other duties assigned by manager.
  • Responsible for the organization and cleanliness of their workstation and shop, parts-room and yard.
