tradesperson - building operator, evening shift
Job Description
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Typical working hours will be evenings, 1-9pm, Monday to Friday. However, as the facility operates 24/7/365, shifts may be changed based on needs and could include weekends and holidays.
Under the general supervision of the Facilities Supervisor:
- Completes maintenance duties on a wide range of equipment and systems including air handlers, pumps, motors, chillers and boilers
- Responds to HVAC issues/complaints and sees through resolution
- Utilizes building automation system as needed
- Minor patching and painting duties
- Completes minor electrical and plumbing work
- Maintains required inventory of essential parts
- Assists other trades and maintenance generalists as needed
- Responsible to recognize and report patient, staff, and environmental safety issues, identify and implement preventative and corrective actions, within the scope of this role
- Other related duties as
STAFFING & LICENSING REQUIREMENTS
- Successful completion of one or more of: Building Environmental Systems (BES), Building Operator Certification (BOC), or BOMI Systems Maintenance Technician (SMT)
- Preference for trade certification(s) in a relevant area: gas fitter, electrician, plumber, carpenter, locksmith or other
- Hands-on experience in a multi-faceted maintenance role, preferably in a healthcare or institutional setting
SKILLS:
- Working knowledge of HVAC/R systems
- Working knowledge of building automation systems
- Ability to perform physical demands of the position and maintain good attendance
- Solid computer skills required
- Ability to layout work and schedule jobs
- Ability to read blueprints
- Enhanced problem-solving skills required
- Ability to interact professionally with all staff, clients and visitors to the facility
- Ability to work under minimal supervision
- Ability to work within a structured preventative maintenance system and make recommendations for upgrading the system as necessary
- Maintain all assigned tools and equipment in good working order.
FREEDOM OF ACTION
- Works in accordance with established maintenance techniques and procedures, and within applicable maintenance and service requirements of systems and equipment
- Selects correct methods of repair and tools required when performing work
- Refers matters not covered by procedures to supervisor for clarification/guidance.
