About the Role

Our company is seeking a Technical Writer to join our engineering team. This role is responsible for transforming complex technical information into clear, accurate, and user-friendly documentation for both standard products and customized automation solutions.

This position is well suited to an individual who is detail-oriented, technically inclined, and comfortable working independently while collaborating with engineers, technicians, and cross-functional teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineering, sales, and customers to determine documentation requirements for assigned projects.

  • Gather and develop technical information to create operation and maintenance manuals, technical bulletins, and product instructions.

  • Work closely with subject matter experts, including engineers, technicians, and production personnel, to understand complex concepts and present them clearly for the intended audience.

  • Develop a thorough understanding of products from the customer and end-user perspective.

  • Manage assigned documentation activities with minimal supervision while delivering high-quality documentation on schedule.

  • Create visual content, including photographs, drawings, charts, tables, and graphs.

  • Support quality control activities to ensure products are manufactured according to specifications.

  • Meet established production schedules and project timelines.

  • Analyze documentation and work processes for opportunities for continuous improvement.

  • Maintain company documentation standards and comply with Quality Management System requirements.

  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment and actively participate in the company health and safety program.

  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in a technical or related discipline (Technical Diploma or University Degree), or an equivalent combination of education and relevant technical writing experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of technical writing experience.

  • Experience in manufacturing, machine design, electrical design, and/or automation.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

  • Graphic design and illustration skills using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.

  • Experience using SolidWorks or other CAD software for visual presentations is considered an asset.

  • Knowledge of engineered drawings, tolerances, weldment detailing, and Bills of Material (BOM) is an asset.

  • Familiarity with welding systems, material handling, robotics, control systems, and industrial safety systems is an asset.

  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 or quality management systems is an asset.
