Sr. RRT- Registered Respiratory Therapist
Job Description
The Sr. Respiratory Therapist will work in a fast paced interdisciplinary pulmonary and exercise lab and reporting to the leadership team. Specific responsibilities includes performing spirometry, lung volumes, lung diffusion, blood gas analysis, capillary puncture, methacholine challenge, walk test, skin test for allergy assessments and cardiopulmonary exercise stress testing within an interdisciplinary team setting. The technologist will be responsible to assess patient fitness for testing and adjusting according to patient history and status. They will complete technologist complete workflows in Epic and flagging urgent findings accordingly, reporting equipment issues to the MES. The Senior will help coordinate equipment maintenance with the MES team, review supplies and order as required. They oversee new staff and student training schedules and performance, report any quality control issues with testing to both the physician lead and leadership team. They will advise of capacity and patient safety issues. They will support the review of applicable policies pertaining to the lab and monitor Gas ordering for the calibration and use of systems.
1.Graduate of an accredited program in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent
2. Current General Registration, in good standing with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario (CRTO)
3. Valid Basic Life Support Certification
4. Experience in an out-patient clinic or environment an asset
5. Demonstrated expertise with pulmonary function testing equipment
6. Demonstrated ability to work within an interdisciplinary team
7. Demonstrated patient teaching skills
8. Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal skills
9. Demonstrated ability to set and adjust priorities and organize work in response to department needs
10. Ability to liaise with various hospital departments effectively and collaboratively
11. Demonstrated commitment to Hamilton Health Sciences' mission, vision, and values
12. Demonstrated a minimum 2 years of work in a pulmonary function lab as a Respiratory Therapist
