Job Title: Software Engineer (AWS/Node/React)
Location: 100% Remote, Canada
Experience: 8+ Years
Rate: $60 to $70 CAD PH
Role Summary: NearSource is looking for a Senior Software Engineer (AWS/Node/React) to design and deliver scalable cloud-native solutions supporting modern water management workflows. This role focuses on backend service development, distributed systems, and full-stack execution while contributing to architectural decisions within enterprise-grade environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute scalable backend services on AWS using serverless and containerized architectures
- Develop distributed systems capable of handling high-volume and high-frequency data workflows
- Implement robust ETL processes for data ingestion and transformation using modern tooling
- Develop production-grade, maintainable, and testable code aligned with enterprise standards
- Contribute to architectural design discussions and system-level decision-making
- Build and enhance user-facing applications using React and modern web tooling
- Participate in design reviews and code reviews to ensure scalability, reliability, and performance
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver product-based workflows
Must-Have Skills
- 8+ years of professional software development experience
- Strong experience designing and building scalable, distributed systems
- Hands-on expertise with AWS services, including Lambda, API Gateway, and DynamoDB
- Strong backend development experience using NodeJS
- 3+ years of experience developing modern front-end applications using React
- Experience building cloud-native applications using containerized or serverless patterns
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with AWS IoT services
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or CloudFormation
- Exposure to machine learning concepts
- Experience working with container orchestration environments
