The position is responsible for upholding the highest quality and compliance standards across all technical deliverables while serving as a trusted advisor to project managers and cross-functional teams. Acting as a key technical lead, the Senior Systems Engineer ensures the successful execution of mission-critical projects in public safety, transit, and commercial sectors. All work is performed in alignment with company's ISO-certified Quality Management System and applicable regulatory and industry standards. This position reports directly to the Vice President, Design & Deployment.</p><p><br></p><p>Note: Senior Systems Engineer title is reserved for individuals registered with an engineering regulator in Canada (e.g. EGBC, PEO, OIQ, etc.).</p><p><br></p><p><b>Key Responsibilities</b></p><p><br></p><p><b>Wireless & RF Systems Engineering</b></p><ul><li>Lead the design, implementation, and integration of wireless communication systems, including <b>RAN, DAS, and public safety networks</b>.</li><li>Conduct <b>RF propagation analysis</b>, <b>in-building coverage modeling</b>, and <b>frequency/spectrum planning</b>.</li><li>Perform <b>system validation</b> through field measurements, drive testing, and post-processing analysis.</li><li>Ensure all designs meet <b>TIA, NFPA</b>, and <b>public safety telecommunications standards</b>.</li><li>Oversee the <b>interoperability</b> between wireless and wired systems to ensure seamless network performance.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><b>Systems Design & Integration</b></p><ul><li>Design and develop comprehensive <b>telecommunication infrastructures</b>, including network topology, power systems, telephony, and data transport.</li><li>Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to define <b>system architecture</b>, integration requirements, and deployment strategies.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><b>Documentation & Quality Assurance</b></p><ul><li>Prepare and maintain <b>technical documentation</b>, including detailed drawings, specifications, and design packages using <b>AutoCAD, MicroStation, iBwave, and Visio</b>.</li><li>Review and validate deliverables to ensure compliance with <b>regulatory, safety, and quality standards</b>.</li><li>Support <b>system commissioning</b> and acceptance testing documentation.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><b>Project & Client Collaboration</b></p><ul><li>Partner with <b>project managers</b> and <b>clients</b> to define technical requirements, project timelines, and deliverables.</li><li>Provide <b>technical support</b> during design, deployment, testing, and commissioning phases.</li><li>Contribute to <b>proposal development</b>, <b>RFP responses</b>, and <b>technical presentations</b> for clients and stakeholders.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><b>Innovation & Continuous Improvement</b></p><ul><li>Stay current with <b>emerging technologies</b> such as <b>5G, LTE, IoT, and Mission-Critical Push-to-Talk (MCPTT)</b>.</li><li>Identify and implement process improvements to enhance <b>RF performance</b>, <b>system efficiency</b>, and <b>deployment practices</b>.</li><li>Mentor junior engineers and share best practices within the engineering team.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><b>Qualifications</b></p><p><br></p><p><b>Education & Certification</b></p><ul><li>Bachelor's degree in <b>Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering</b>, or related discipline.</li><li><b>Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) license</b> or equivalent provincial designation preferred.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><b>Experience</b></p><ul><li>Minimum <b>7+ years</b> of experience in <b>telecommunications systems engineering</b>.</li><li>At least <b>5 years</b> of hands-on experience producing detailed design documentation, studies, and technical reports.</li><li>Demonstrated experience supporting <b>proposal writing, RFP responses,</b> and <b>solution development</b>.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><b>Technical Expertise</b></p><ul><li>Strong knowledge of <b>RF design</b>, <b>propagation modeling</b>, <b>spectrum planning</b>, and <b>frequency coordination</b>.</li><li>Proven experience with <b>in-building DAS</b>, <b>public safety DAS</b>, and <b>enterprise-grade coverage solutions</b>.</li><li>Familiarity with <b>LTE, 5G, and small-cell architectures</b>, including <b>macro-to-indoor integration</b>.</li><li>Minimum <b>2 years</b> experience in <b>coverage testing</b>, <b>TIA standards interpretation</b>, and <b>network optimization</b>.</li><li>Skilled in using <b>RF survey tools</b>, <b>spectrum analyzers</b>, and <b>scanning equipment</b>.</li><li>Knowledge of <b>NFPA</b>, <b>FirstNet</b>, and <b>public-safety-grade communications</b> requirements.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><b>Software & Tools</b></p><ul><li>Proficiency in <b>AutoCAD, MicroStation, iBwave, Visio</b>, and the <b>Microsoft Office Suite</b>.</li><li>Experience with <b>data analysis tools</b> for RF modeling and performance reporting.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><b>Soft Skills</b></p><ul><li>Strong <b>analytical problem-solving</b> abilities with meticulous attention to detail.</li><li>Excellent <b>communication and stakeholder management</b> skills.</li><li>Proven ability to <b>manage multiple projects</b> simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.</li></ul><p><br></p><p>Salary and benefits: Up to $145,000 Health benefits Paid Vacation Profit Sharing and Training Support</p><p><br></p><p>Location: Langley (on-site)</p>
