Senior infrastructure Engineer/ Monitoring

Job Description

In high-stakes environments, clarity and composure drive results. This organization is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to take point on systems monitoring, infrastructure stability, and end-to-end observability across a modern hybrid estate. The role demands technical maturity, steady decision-making, and the ability to assess and act without noise or hesitation. You'll be trusted to build visibility where there is none, reduce ambiguity across platforms, and ensure that critical systems not only run — but report, recover, and evolve.

You'll join a structured, enterprise-scale technology group where infrastructure spans Windows Server, Azure, virtualization, and traditional on-prem services. As a senior engineer, you'll collaborate closely with analysts, architects, and leadership to define and execute monitoring strategy—building a foundation of telemetry that supports both operational awareness and long-term scalability. This role combines hands-on systems work with strategic implementation. Calm under pressure is not a preference here; it's a requirement.

Required Skills & Experience

7–10 years in infrastructure engineering with a deep focus on monitoring, observability, and systems health
Experience with enterprise-grade tools such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, SCOM, or similar platforms
Strong understanding of Windows-based infrastructure, Active Directory, and hybrid cloud environments (particularly Microsoft Azure)

Desired Skills & Experience

Familiarity with SIEM/SOAR tools such as Microsoft Sentinel or Splunk
Experience writing telemetry queries and dashboards (KQL, Power BI, Grafana, etc.)
Exposure to automation and IaC workflows with a focus on integrating monitoring from deployment onward

Daily Responsibilities

Hands-On Engineering: 70%
Team Collaboration & Cross-Functional Work: 30%

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in Canada on a full-time basis now and in the future.

Accommodation will be provided in all parts of the hiring process as required under Motion Recruitment's Employment Accommodation policy. Applicants need to make their needs known in advance.
