Duties:

Reporting directly to the financial statement managers and/or principals and indirectly to the Deputy Auditor General, the Senior Auditor will work as a member of the financial statements serice area to perform financial statements audits in accordance with Canadian Auditing Standards. The Senior Auditor will supervise staff, oversee audit budgets, and will actively participate in audit activities including planning, gathering evidence, and reporting of findings.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • A CPA designation or working towards a CPA designation after having passed the CFE
  • Extensive recent experience applying accounting principles and Canadian Auditing Standards (CAS) in conducting financial statement audits
  • Superior analytical skills to identify and analyze problems and form logical conclusions
  • The ability to effectively plan, organize and follow up when managing assigned work
  • Strong written communication skills to effectively communicate audit findings to a variety of stakeholders
  • The ability to be proactive, take initiative, and perform tasks independently while working under minimal supervision
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work well both within a team setting and with a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Strong verbal communication skills including the ability to actively listen and present messages concisely.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (CRC)

  • Ability to work overtime when required (limited)
