About the Role
As a
Senior Accountant at Avery Cooper
, you will play a key role in delivering high‑quality audit, accounting, and tax services to clients throughout the North. You will oversee engagements from planning through completion, work directly with clients, mentor junior staff, and contribute to maintaining and strengthening our reputation as a trusted northern accounting firm.

Key Responsibilities
- Plan, lead, and review audit, review, and compilation engagements
- Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with ASPE and NPO standards
- Ensure compliance with Canadian Auditing Standards and firm quality control policies
- Prepare and review corporate, personal, payroll, and sales tax returns
- Support clients with CRA compliance, inquiries, and audits
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through clear, professional communication
- Mentor and review work of junior staff and CPA students
- Contribute to process improvements, staff development, and firm initiatives
- Travel as required to serve clients throughout the North
Qualifications & Requirements
- CPA designation (Canada) or successful completion of the Common Final Examination (CFE)
- Strong working knowledge of ASPE, Canadian Auditing Standards, and NPO standards
- Experience with corporate, personal, payroll, and sales tax
- Experience dealing with CRA compliance and correspondence
- Willingness and ability to travel
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple engagements
