<p>Gambler First Nation (“<b>GFN</b>”) is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to oversee GFN’s daily activities as well as those of its economic subsidiaries operating in the retail fuel, convenience sector as well as land development and construction. As an ideal candidate, you will have a sharp business mind, strong finance background, and proven success managing multiple departments toward maximum productivity. To ensure a smooth and successful transition into the role, you will work closely with our current Chartered Professional Accountant during the onboarding process. This collaborative transition period being undertaken to provide a comprehensive support and continuity in financial operations.</p><p>The position is based in Russell, Manitoba and reports directly to Chief and Council. <span>GFN offers a nine-day work cycle, which typically results in every other Friday off, promoting a balanced approach to work, family life, and community engagement.</span>This is a fantastic career opportunity for someone who is looking for diverse and rewarding full-cycle accounting work with high potential for long-term growth.</p><p><b>Main Duties</b></p><p>· Perform and/or oversee accounts payable, billing, payroll and accounts receivable</p><p>· Supervise, mentor, and support the assistant in their daily tasks.</p><p>· Review general ledger accounts and prepare journal entries</p><p>· Reconcile sub-ledger to general account balances</p><p>· Maintain fixed assets schedules</p><p>· Perform bank reconciliation, and inter-company reconciliation</p><p>· Prepare monthly and yearly accruals</p><p>· Gather information and generate ongoing financial reports</p><p>· Assist with maintenance & creation of operational processes and best practices</p><p>· Assist with preparing financial statements</p><p>· Support the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors.</p><p>· Perform other related duties as required</p><p>At GFN, because we have very diversified organization, there are many great growth opportunities. As long as you are willing to learn, you will have maximum exposure to all business fronts.</p><p><b><br>Qualifications & Experience</b></p><p>· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Business Administration</p><p>· CPA and/or CAFM designation</p><p>· Have a minimum of three years of full cycle accounting experience</p><p>· Have a firm understanding of Sage 50 accounting software</p><p>· Advanced MS Excel skills, capable of writing complicated formulas</p><p>· Strong problem solving, critical thinking and organizational skills, with a good dose of commonsense and initiative</p><p>· Results-oriented and process driven</p><p>· Ability to effectively receive and communicate feedback</p><p>· Smart, fun, goal-oriented and driven by integrity</p><p><b>Compensation</b></p><p>• Competitive salary and benefits commensurate with experience.</p><p><b>Type of Employment</b></p><p>• This is a full-time salaried position based in Russell, Manitoba.</p><br>#J-18808-Ljbffr
