We are seeking an experienced Screed Man to join a paving crew in Hamilton. The Screed Man is responsible for operating the screed on the asphalt paver to ensure proper depth, grade, smoothness, and compaction of asphalt surfaces. This role is critical to delivering high-quality paving results and maintaining production standards.
The ideal candidate is experienced, safety-conscious, physically fit, and comfortable working in a fast-paced outdoor construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
Operate the screed on the asphalt paver to achieve specified grade, thickness, and smoothness
Adjust screed settings including crown, slope, and depth to meet project specifications
Work closely with the paver operator, crew members, and foreman to maintain consistent paving quality
Monitor asphalt mat quality and make real-time adjustments to ensure uniform surface finish
Assist with grade control using string lines, lasers, and/or GPS systems where applicable
Perform daily equipment inspections and report any mechanical issues
Follow all safety policies, procedures, and industry regulations
Participate in job site setup, cleanup, and general crew support tasks as required
Qualifications
Minimum 2–5 years of experience as a Screed Man or Asphalt Paving Crew Member
Strong knowledge of asphalt paving techniques, materials, and equipment
Ability to read grades, elevations, and paving plans
Physically fit and able to work long hours in varying weather conditions
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Valid driver’s license required; AZ/DZ license considered an asset
Safety certifications such as WHMIS, Working at Heights, and Confined Space are assets
Work Environment

Competitive hourly wage based on experience ($22.00 – $44.20 per hour)
