Project Manager / Estimator
Job Description
Our client, a well-established civil construction firm with a strong reputation for delivering complex infrastructure, deep excavations, and shoring projects, is seeking a Project Manager/Estimator to join their team in Surrey, BC. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both the pre-construction/estimating side and the project delivery side of deep excavation and shoring work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the full project lifecycle for deep excavation and shoring projects from tender through closeout.
- Prepare detailed estimates, quantities, and pricing for deep excavation, shoring, and related civil scopes.
- Lead tender submissions, including takeoffs, subcontractor and supplier inquiries, and bid reviews.
- Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and cost tracking.
- Oversee project execution in collaboration with field teams, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and within budget.
- Coordinate with engineers, clients, and subcontractors on design details, temporary works, and construction methodologies.
- Prepare and manage RFIs, change orders, progress claims, and project documentation.
- Participate in site meetings, safety meetings, and progress reviews.
Ideal Candidate Requirements:
- 5 or more years of experience in civil construction with proven experience on deep excavation and/or shoring projects.
- Experience in both estimating and project management roles, ideally within a self-perform civil or foundations contractor.
- Strong understanding of shoring systems, temporary works, excavation support, and related construction methodologies.
- Proficiency with MS Office; experience with estimating and project management software is an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret civil, structural, and geotechnical drawings and specifications.
- Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple bids and projects.
