Program Instructor – Children's Cooking Instructor
The Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury is looking for an organized, highly motivated and energetic individual to join the growing Recreation and Client Services Department as a children's cooking Program Instructor starting in the spring. Reporting to the Recreation Programmer, the Program Instructor provides direct leadership, supervision and instruction in programming.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Plan and teach cooking classes for children ages 3-16 years.
- Demonstrate basic cooking techniques, kitchen safety and hygiene.
- Attend to program participants' needs as related to the program.
- Actively participate, engage, assist participants in program activities, adapt support needs dependent on the participants/groups attending.
- Ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all participants.
- Responsible for all aspects of the program including planning, supervision, setup/cleanup, safety and implementation.
- Complete accident/ incident reporting and program statistics.
Key Competencies and Qualifications
- Previous experience teaching cooking and/or baking to children and youth.
- Possess Standard First Aid, and CPR Level C certification.
- Candidates must be able to promote a culture of inclusiveness and work with a diverse population of employees, participants, agencies and the public.
- Effective problem solving skills and conflict management skills are also required.
- Ability to provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening upon hire.
- Candidates must be available Tuesdays & Wednesdays from 3:00 – 10:00pm.
This position offers an hourly rate of $23.96 to $ rates).
