Program Instructor – Children's Cooking Instructor

The Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury is looking for an organized, highly motivated and energetic individual to join the growing Recreation and Client Services Department as a children's cooking Program Instructor starting in the spring. Reporting to the Recreation Programmer, the Program Instructor provides direct leadership, supervision and instruction in programming.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Plan and teach cooking classes for children ages 3-16 years.
• Demonstrate basic cooking techniques, kitchen safety and hygiene.
• Attend to program participants' needs as related to the program.
• Actively participate, engage, assist participants in program activities, adapt support needs dependent on the participants/groups attending.
• Ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all participants.
• Responsible for all aspects of the program including planning, supervision, setup/cleanup, safety and implementation.
• Complete accident/ incident reporting and program statistics.

Key Competencies and Qualifications

• Previous experience teaching cooking and/or baking to children and youth.
• Possess Standard First Aid, and CPR Level C certification.
• Candidates must be able to promote a culture of inclusiveness and work with a diverse population of employees, participants, agencies and the public.
• Effective problem solving skills and conflict management skills are also required.
• Ability to provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening upon hire.
• Candidates must be available Tuesdays & Wednesdays from 3:00 – 10:00pm.

This position offers an hourly rate of $23.96 to $ rates).
