Overview And Purpose Of The RoleAt Schroeder Ambulatory Centre, we provide cutting-edge ambulatory surgical care, allowing patients to recover safely at home the same day as their procedure. Our orthopedic program specializes in hip and knee replacement surgeries with a focus on rapid recovery and same-day discharge. Join our team and help patients achieve optimal outcomes in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment.
We are seeking both full-time and part-time skilled Physiotherapist to provide perioperative and post-operative care for patients undergoing hip and knee replacements in an ambulatory surgery setting. This role emphasizes early mobilization, patient education, and safe discharge planning to support same-day recovery.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Assess and mobilize patients immediately post-operatively following hip and knee replacement surgeries.
Develop and implement individualized physiotherapy plans to promote early mobility and safe same-day discharge.
Provide patient and caregiver education on exercises, mobility techniques, fall prevention, and home safety.
Collaborate closely with surgeons, nurses, and the interdisciplinary team to ensure seamless patient care.
Monitor and document patient progress in the electronic health record, escalating any concerns to the surgical team.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support the development of best practices for ambulatory orthopedic care.
Perform additional duties and undertake special projects as assigned.
Corporate Responsibilities
Participate in all mandatory training requirements and work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, company Policies and Procedures, as well as established industry guidelines.
Education, Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited program.
Registered and in good standing with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario.
Experience in orthopedic or musculoskeletal physiotherapy; post-operative joint replacement experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of early mobilization, pain management, and same-day discharge protocols.
Excellent communication, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced surgical environment.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Demonstrated sound judgment, discretion, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and EMRs; OCEANS eReferral experience preferred.
Satisfactory Criminal Record/Vulnerable Sector Check.
Proof of immunization and TB screening required.
