Position Summary

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Personal Support Workers (PSWs) to join our team in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. This role is ideal for professionals who are committed to promoting dignity, independence, inclusion, and quality of life in a residential or community-based setting.

As a Personal Support Worker, you will provide direct care and daily living support to individuals with complex medical and personal needs while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on assistance with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, bathing, grooming, mobility support, and transfers.
  • Support individuals with meal preparation, plating, feeding, and hydration needs.
  • Administer medications and provide medication reminders in accordance with established protocols.
  • Assist with complex medical care, including g-tube feeding, ostomy care, oral suctioning, and seizure management.
  • Observe, document, and report changes in health status or behavior.
  • Support participation in social, recreational, and community activities, including transportation to appointments.
  • Perform light housekeeping duties in a residential environment (laundry, sweeping, dishes, etc.).
  • Promote independence, personal choice, and goal achievement for individuals supported.
  • Participate in ongoing staff training and professional development.
  • Maintain effective communication and collaboration within a team setting.

Required Qualifications

  • Personal Support Worker Certificate from an accredited institution (required).
  • Demonstrated experience supporting individuals with complex medical needs.
  • Current Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check (dated within the last six months).
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification.
  • Two-step TB test or negative chest X-ray (dated within the last six months).
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification (required).

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to perform physical job duties, including extended periods of standing, moderate to heavy lifting, and assisting with lifts and transfers.
  • Comfortable providing direct personal care in a fast-paced residential setting.
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including days, afternoons, and overnight shifts, based on operational needs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
