Background Check Requirement: Standard employment and reference checks

Salary: $75,000-$85,000

About the Opportunity

Join a mission-driven, non-profit organization dedicated to supporting employees, retirees, and volunteers through thoughtful and efficient pension plan administration. In this role, you’ll play a key part in ensuring plan members receive accurate benefits, timely payments, and exceptional support, all while working with a collaborative, people-first team.

As a Pension Administrator, you’ll work closely with colleagues across the Benefits Centre and broader Shared Services team, supporting pensioners, active members, and internal departments. This is an opportunity to contribute to meaningful work that impacts real people’s financial well-being while building your expertise in defined benefit pension plans.

What’s in it for You

You’ll enjoy a fully remote, permanent role that balances flexibility with connection to a supportive team culture. The organization offers comprehensive health and dental benefits, generous paid time off, and ongoing professional development opportunities. You’ll have the chance to deepen your pension administration knowledge, work on diverse projects, and thrive in an inclusive environment that values integrity, respect, and collaboration.

Your Responsibilities

  • You’ll respond to pension-related inquiries from plan members, providing clear, accurate, and timely guidance.
  • In this role, you’ll perform benefit calculations for retirements, terminations, past service purchases, and complex scenarios like commuted values and marriage breakdowns.
  • You’ll maintain and update pension records in the administration system, ensuring accurate data for payroll and regulatory reporting.
  • You’ll assist with year-end filings, CRA reporting, and preparation of annual statements, supporting smooth operations and compliance.
  • You’ll collaborate with internal teams and external service providers to resolve issues and improve the member experience.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in defined benefit pension administration.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian pension legislation, DB plan structures, and commuted value processes.
  • Excellent Excel skills and comfort working with large datasets.
  • Effective organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment while managing sensitive and confidential information.
  • CEB, CEBS, or PPAC certification (or working toward) is an asset.
  • Experience with third-party pension providers and pension administration systems like PABAS is preferred.

Note from the Hiring Manager

“We’re looking for someone who is detail-oriented, proactive, and genuinely enjoys helping people navigate their pension benefits. Your work will directly impact our members’ financial security and peace of mind.”
