<p><p>Peace Officer - Security Services, Office of Vice-President Finance and Administration</p><p>MacEwan University is seeking experienced Peace Officers for multiple, full-time continuing opportunities with the Security Services department. This position is full-time continuing (35 hours per week) with salary details below and closing date listed.</p><p><u>Competition Number :</u> 25.09.249</p><p><b>Category : Full-Time Continuing (35 hours per week)</b></p><p><u>Salary :</u> MSU Band F (Steps 1-8) : $35.652 - $51.864 per hour. $64,887 - $94,393 per annum (Based on 35 hours per week).</p><p><u>Closing Date :</u> September 28, 2025</p><h3>Overview</h3><p>As a Peace Officer, your role involves adhering to relevant legislation, university policies, the criminal code, the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and all applicable provincial and federal laws. Your primary focus will be to ensure a safe learning environment on campus and to protect MacEwan's assets. You will be accountable to the standards set forth in the Peace Officer Act through your provincial appointment, as well as to all MacEwan policies.</p><h3>Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Extensive foot patrols in and outside buildings, climbing stairs, and handling physical confrontation as required.</li><li>Respond to alarms, issues with plant systems, emergency telephones and CCTV systems; provide information to staff, students, contractors, patrons, and visitors on request or proactively when needed.</li><li>Perform access control duties including door unlocks / lock-up, notify or assist removing non-staff from buildings, and conduct interior building checks to ensure no intruders.</li><li>Investigate incidents involving suspected breaches of university policy; obtain witness statements, photograph scenes, gather evidence, protect crime scenes for police response, take detailed notes, and enter information into incident management software.</li><li>Conduct shift debriefs with incoming shift members to ensure effective communication and awareness of activity or risks.</li><li>Provide counter service at the Security Services office (issuing keys, contractor passes, lost and found, tagging / storing found property, receiving complaints, assisting clients with online reporting, answering phones, and managing requests for service).</li><li>Ensure materials handed to external police agencies comply with university FOIP procedures.</li><li>Use 10-codes and phonetic alphabet for radio communications; provide reports during patrols or calls for service.</li><li>Respond to medical emergencies with first aid, ensure safety, grant access for EMS / fire / police, and support evacuations during emergencies.</li><li>Initiate CPIC checks and determine arrest or release decisions as appropriate.</li><li>Assist in developing written work instructions for Security Services; participate in training and safety initiatives for staff and students.</li></ul><h3>Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Graduate of a police / peace officer program recognized by the Government of Alberta that complies with being appointed / authorized as a community peace officer in Alberta.</li><li>Minimum of two years of experience as a Peace Officer Level 1.</li><li>Current First Aid and CPR-C Certification.</li><li>ICS100 and ICS200 certifications.</li><li>Possess a valid P.A.R.E.
