Paralegal
Job Description
We are a very high-volume, fast-paced criminal defence firm looking for a licensed paralegal to assist in administrative procedures of the firm. Experience in criminal law would be an asset, but is not mandatory.
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to paralegals and lawyers (Scheduling, Emails, Correspondence with Clients and Courthouses, Disclosure Organization and Review)
- Comfortable speaking in court and handling all aspects of a court appearance from detailed court instructions, communication with clients, calendar management, note taking, relaying important instructions and tasks to lawyers on file
- Disclosure review and organization; general mail merge; drafting of court applications
- Must be comfortable speaking with clients and providing file updates and receiving client instructions
- Exciting opportunities offered to assist with resolution and pleas in criminal court within the paralegal jurisdiction
Qualifications
- Graduate of a Paralegal Program - Must be a fully licensed paralegal OR alternatively be writing the February 2026 P1 Exam with expectation to be licensed in 2026*
- Driver's License and daily access to a vehicle if needed to drive to court
- Willingness to work in a high volume environment
- Strong working initiative and being an active member of a team
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Interest in criminal defence or the criminal justice procedure
- Candidates will be contacted if they are being considered for an interview. Please note this job is ON SITE but has an opportunity for a hybrid-schedule after initial training. Our office is located in Aurora, ON.
