POSITION SUMMARY
The
Outside Sales Representative
is responsible for developing and supporting customer relationships across all market segments, advancing project opportunities from early specification through order completion, and ensuring a consistently high level of service through strong internal coordination. This role supports business with architects and designers, ICI stakeholders, retailers, builders, and installers through consultative selling and consistent project follow-through. This position requires a high level of independence, professionalism, and accountability in managing a complex territory.
KEY OBJECTIVES
· Drive profitable growth through new account development and expansion of existing accounts
· Increase specification and project influence with architects, designers, and ICI decision-makers
· Build and maintain a reliable pipeline of projects and repeat business
· Deliver a consistent and professional customer experience from quotation through delivery and issue resolution
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Territory and account management
· Execute a structured territory plan including account priorities, weekly routing, call targets, and consistent follow-up
· Maintain and expand existing accounts while actively prospecting for new opportunities across all customer segments
· Build relationships with decision-makers and influencers within each account, including owners, managers, designers, estimators, and project teams
· Schedule and deliver product presentations and jobsite check-ins, or showroom updates as needed
CRM and pipeline management
· Track all opportunities and projects in the CRM, including contacts, next steps, timelines, and activity history
· Maintain an accurate and current pipeline to support forecasting and territory planning
· Record meetings, quotes, samples, and key project updates consistently and on time
Quoting and opportunity conversion

Qualify opportunities by confirming project scope, product requirements, quantities, timelines, and stakeholders
· Prepare and send quotes using internal tools and processes; follow up to finalize selections and close the quote
· Coordinate revisions and alternates based on customer feedback and project constraints
· Support order conversion by confirming final details and coordinating with internal teams to ensure accurate entry and processing
Specification and project support (A and D, ICI)
· Support architects, designers, and specifiers with product recommendations, technical information, samples, and library updates
· Help advance projects from design stage through tender, award, and execution by staying engaged with key stakeholders
· Coordinate submittals, product documentation, and sample boards with internal resources as required
· Attend project meetings or site visits when needed to support product selection and completion
· Coordinate supplier-supported presentations, product knowledge (PK) sessions, and product demonstrations to support specification decisions and project progression
Retail, installer, and trade partner support
· Support retail partners with product updates, basic training, and merchandising support
· Build working relationships with installers and trade partners to support ongoing referrals and consistent project execution
· Provide guidance on product application and installation considerations using internal technical support when required
Service coordination and issue resolution
· Coordinate with showroom, customer service, purchasing, and warehouse teams to ensure a smooth customer experience
· Set clear expectations on product availability, lead times, delivery, and special-order requirements
· Respond quickly to service issues and escalate appropriately while keeping customers informed and supported
Communication and team contribution
· Collaborate closely with the outside sales team to coordinate account coverage, share leads and project intelligence, and support team priorities
· Provide backup support for team members during vacations or peak periods, including customer follow-up, site visits, and quote support as needed
· Share customer feedback, market observations, and competitive insights with the team and leadership to support planning and consistent execution
· Participate in team meetings, product training, and process improvements to strengthen sales effectiveness and customer experience
· Support planning and execution of customer events including product launches, training sessions, and targeted outreach events
QUALIFICATIONS
Centura recognizes that strong candidates may come from either within the flooring industry or from related construction and distribution sectors. The ideal candidate will bring relevant industry experience along with the professionalism and discipline required for an outside sales role.
Required
· Fully bilingual in French and English with strong written communication in both languages
· Experience in outside sales within a trade-focused distribution or construction-related environment or flooring industry experience with clear readiness to transition into an outside sales role
· Demonstrated consultative selling skills with the ability to influence both technical and design-oriented audiences
· Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage territory activity, follow-ups, and project pipelines
· Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn and apply new product knowledge and technical specifications
· Reliable vehicle and valid driver's license with the ability to travel outside of the region on occasion
· Ability to transport and install sample boards and displays, including regular lifting of moderately heavy materials
Preferred
· Experience using CRM tools and quoting processes
· Knowledge of ICI project cycles, tendering, stakeholder mapping, and submittals
· Established relationships in the local architect and design community and/or ICI contractor channel
