Job Description

We are looking for Medical Lab Technologist/Senior MLT for our client based out of Ottawa, ON.


Role type: Permanent full time Onsite role.

Location: Ottawa, ON

Discipline: Chemistry/Hematology/Histology

Shift: Onsite- Day shift (some overtime required)


MLT / Senior MLT

You will be responsible for delivering in a timely manner the highest level of clinical and scientific quality to everyone we serve with a variety of testing using the latest technology. Your contributions will make a difference – the results and reports you deliver will be provided to physicians and greatly impact the downstream solutions and treatment critical to saving someone’s life.

  • Perform routine testing in Chemistry/Hematology or Histology (as per specific lab’s requirement), including analyzer maintenance, calibration, quality control, and troubleshooting.
  • For Histology lab: perform all aspects of Histology, including grossing specimens, embedding, microtomy, routine and special staining
  • Ensure all specimens are correctly identified and meet established requirements.
  • Record, interpret, and approve laboratory test results.
  • Maintain quality control standards and conduct routine laboratory equipment maintenance; investigate missing samples as needed.
  • Identify and report incidents and non-conformities.


Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3-6 years’ experience as a certified Medical Laboratory Technologist in Chemistry/Hematology or Histology.
  • High level of interpersonal skills, and natural fit within a collaborative working environment
  • Carry a CMLTO/ CSMLS registration as a practicing Medical Laboratory Technologist in good standing
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, and Outlook at an intermediate level
  • Solid ability to troubleshoot technical issues and provide recommendations for resolution
  • Working experience in the Chemistry or Hematology field, knowledge and understanding of Diagnostic Accreditation standards is desirable.
