Job Description
Absolute Industrial Mechanical Ltd. is excited to add a Mechanical Estimator to our growing team. The ideal candidate for this position would be well rounded in the construction industry and be a team-orientated, self-starter with strong interpersonal skills. This position is permanent, full-time, and in-person. The successful candidate must be able to commute to our office in Mission, BC; not accessible by public transit.

Since 1999, Absolute Industrial Mechanical Ltd. has been providing plumbing and process piping installation and fabrication services. The majority of our work is in the public sector, working on municipal pump stations, water treatment plants, reservoirs, and related water handling facilities. Our office and fabrication shop are based out of Mission, BC, though we provide services throughout the province.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Evaluate tender opportunities and identify risks, extras and opportunities, submit recommendations to the management team
- Review bid documents, drawings, and specifications thoroughly to fully understand the scope of work
- Complete detailed and accurate material, labour and equipment take-offs
- Coordinate price packages with suppliers and subcontractors, regarding tenders/bid requests (including but not limited to identifying areas of cost savings, long lead items, and potential alternate solutions)
- Prepare tenders by quantifying, organizing, and tabulating all material equipment, labour and subcontract costs needed to complete the project
- Consult and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, GC's and subcontractors
- Create and issue quotes/proposal submission documents
- Prepare change orders, when required
- Follow-up and obtain feedback on submitted estimates to identify areas of improvement, including identifying market trends and adjusting accordingly
- Other duties to support your team
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years mechanical estimating experience within the ICI sector (Institutional, Commercial, Industrial)
- Post-secondary degree in construction management, mechanical engineering; or a combination of relevant education and experience considered an asset
- Excellent ability to read and interpret engineering drawings (including but not limited to electrical, mechanical, plumbing IFC's/IFT's)
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
- Must be proficient using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- A Trade Certificate would be considered an asset
