Manager, Graphic Design

Job Description

The Manager, Graphic Design supports the visual expression of Whitecaps FC across all platforms. This role leads a small team of designers and is responsible for delivering high-quality, on‑brand creative across departments. This position blends creative leadership with hands‑on execution by guiding visual direction, upholding brand standards, and ensuring design work connects with fans, while meeting the club’s commercial and engagement objectives.


Role Responsibilities



  • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of designers, providing clear direction, feedback, and growth opportunities

  • Oversee and guide the visual brand identity of the club across marketing assets, including hands‑on support for priority campaigns and partnerships

  • Translate business and marketing objectives into clear creative direction that supports fan growth, revenue‑driving initiatives, and brand storytelling

  • Partner closely with Sales, Partnerships, Retail, Community, Events, and Soccer Operations to deliver creative solutions that balance brand, commercial objectives, and the fan experience

  • Work alongside project managers to oversee workload distribution, prioritization, and timelines across the design team

  • Ensure projects are delivered on time and to a high standard of craft and production quality in a fast‑paced, live sports environment with shifting priorities

  • Review and approve creative output, ensuring assets are on‑brand, technically accurate, and meet production standards across various applications


Qualifications/Experience



  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, animation, art, digital media, marketing, or other industry‑relevant majors is preferred

  • Experience working in the sports industry a bonus (though not required)

  • Demonstrated experience (portfolio) ranging from bringing creative concepts to life visually, to producing production‑ready files for a variety of materials

  • Proficiency in Adobe Suite and Canvas

  • Self‑starter who works well in a team environment

  • Flexible schedule and ability to work unconventional hours including weekends and match nights
