The Machine Operator (Team Lead) is a key member of our production team, responsible for operating and monitoring gummy production equipment while leading a small team on the line. Reporting to the Production Manager, this role ensures smooth production flow, compliance with GMP standards, and effective team coordination in a regulated manufacturing environment.

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity to join a growing team and directly support JY Care’s commitment to high-quality Canadian manufacturing.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Machine Operator (Team Lead) is responsible for:

Production & Equipment Operation

  • Operate and monitor gummy production equipment (cooking, depositing, demoulding, drying, etc.).
  • Perform in-process checks and coordinate with QA/QC on quality issues.
  • Troubleshoot basic equipment problems and escalate to Maintenance when required.

Team Leadership & Workflow

  • Lead a small team (3–4 staff) on the line, assigning daily tasks and monitoring workflow.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, SOP, and Health & Safety standards.
  • Provide on-the-job training and coaching to team members.

Sanitation & Compliance

  • Oversee daily sanitation, changeovers, and adherence to cleanroom protocols.
  • Complete and maintain accurate production and compliance records.

Reporting & Communication

  • Track and report production metrics (output, downtime, deviations) to the Production Manager.
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including QA, QC, formulator and Maintenance.

Technical Support & Operations

  • Support installation, set-up, and programming of equipment.
  • Provide demonstrations of equipment operation for new machine operators.
  • Communicate safety, control, and operating features of equipment in a clear and concise manner.

Requirements

  • 2–3 years’ experience in food, confectionery, or pharmaceutical production.
  • Previous experience as a Line Leader / Team Lead or demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Strong understanding of GMP / HACCP and ability to supervise others.
  • Mechanically inclined; able to perform minor adjustments.
  • Good communication, reliability, and ability to manage a small team.
  • Physically able to stand for long periods and handle repetitive tasks, including lifting materials of up to 20–30 kg.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluency in Mandarin or Cantonese is considered a strong asset.

TOTAL REWARDS & POSITION DETAILS:

  • Hours of Work: 7:30am – 3:30pm
  • Compensation: $52,000 - $60,000 annually, based on skill set and experience.
  • Bonus: Employees may be eligible for an annual bonus, based on performance and achievement of key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Working Conditions:
    • Gummies and Natural Health Products are produced in an industrial clean room.
    • Full PPE required (hair cover, mask, gown, gloves, shoe covers, etc.)

    • Warehouse environment
