The Role:

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Machine Shift Operator is responsible for ensuring the production line machine operates effectively and breakages and issues are communicated to Repair and Maintenance team.


This role hasrotating shifts(day, afternoon and night shift).



Responsibilities:

  • Pre-operational set up of the machinery for daily use.
  • Responsible for operating the machinery; and when needed, operate other machinery in the facility.
  • Getting all the materials and setting up the working table, racks, spacers, molds, and any other relevant items.
  • Ensure the proper handling and storage of product before and after processing on the line.
  • Conduct regular maintenance checks on the equipment to ensure it is in optimal working condition.
  • Performs prescribed preventative maintenance on machines as required.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the machines to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct all relevant documents entries in respect to parameters set by operational manuals.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, quality standards, and company policies.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Conduct basic pre-operational checks and shutdown after production.
  • Check and adjust machinery controls to operate it safely.
  • Train and oversee the other workers working on machinery.
  • Maintain and understand the operating procedures.
  • Report any issue on the line to Lead hand/Production Supervisor and ensure prompt corrective action.
  • Ensure the environment is safe to operate and all associates are working safely.
  • Report any Health and safety issues to Production Supervisor.
  • Monitor and record downtime events on the line relating to machine.
  • Assist the lead hand / production supervisor in coordinating and scheduling as per daily/weekly and monthly production plan.
  • Communicate with Lead hand/Production Supervisor to resolve any GMP, housekeeping or personnel issue.
  • Complete all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner to ensure accurate record keeping for QC, ERP and daily production reports.
  • Comply with Health and Safety and GMP standards while maintain food safety at all given times.
  • Check products for defects and to ensure compliance to company standards.
  • Regularly clean and check all machines and their parts.
  • Communicate directly with all deliverables effectively with processing crew.
  • Assist in training new employees on machine operation and safety procedures.


Any other duties as assigned by the Production Supervisor or Plant Manager.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications or training in automated machinery operations is an asset.
  • Previous experience of at least 5 years of operating machines in a food manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical experience is an asset.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adhere to strict quality and safety standards.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and shifts, as required.
  • Knowledge of food safety and health and safety regulations (HACCP, GMP, etc.) is a plus.
