About
We are seeking an experienced Legal & Debt Resolution Specialist -Insolvency Expert to join our team. This role is pivotal in safeguarding our leasing portfolio by managing severely delinquent accounts, negotiating with debtors, and navigating the complexities of commercial bankruptcy and equipment repossession. This role requires advanced skills in collection strategies, legal compliance, and financial analysis
Responsabilities
- Monitor credit performance and early warning indicators for borrowers toidentifyemerging risks.
- Collaborate with trustees, creditors, and external legal counsel to protect company interests.
- Evaluate financial viability of clients in distressin order tonegotiate for the best possible outcome.
- Determine and recommend various recovery strategies which may include restructures, payment plans, transfer of equity, legal action and write offs.
- Negotiate settlements with clients to maximize recovery.
- Develop and execute asset recovery strategies for leased equipment.
- Ensure compliance with Canadian insolvency legislation (Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act, Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act).
- Provide expert guidance to senior management on insolvency trends and portfolio exposure.
- Prepare reports on insolvency cases, recovery outcomes, and financial impact.
- Full compliance with all regulations and laws.
- Interface with collections, asset management, credit,sales and other departments to determine appropriate action on customer accounts.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
The profile we are looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Law, or Business Administration or related field
- CIRP (Chartered Insolvency and Restructuring Professional) designation (an asset)
- At least 5 years experience in litigation management, late-stage collections, or a similar role, preferably in the leasing or financial industry
- Specialized courses in insolvency law, restructuring, or corporate finance (asset)
- Knowledge of equipment finance lending practices and associated legal processes related to collections, litigation and bankruptcy.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, internet research, and skip tracing.
- Bilingual English/French preferred but not mandatory

- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively working in a team environment
- Proven analytical skills and a history of systematic problem solving and a willingness to bring innovative solutions to restructuring problems
- Strong strategic mind.
- Results-oriented but detail-minded.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian insolvency laws and leasing industry practices.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
- Able to lead by example and work both independently and with internal departments.
- Ability to collect creatively, within the confines of the law.
