Human Resources Advisor
Job Description
As an HR & Employment Relations Advisor, you will provide expert, commercially focused HR guidance to a diverse and expanding client portfolio. This primarily office-based, phone-centric role requires strong technical HR expertise, sound judgment, and confidence in managing complex and sensitive employee relations issues.
You will advise clients on a broad range of HR matters—from everyday employee management concerns to high-risk and intricate cases—while fostering trusted advisory relationships and delivering an outstanding client experience.
Work environment: 5 days in office, Downtown Toronto off King and Union station
Compensation Range: $65,000–$75,000, commensurate with experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary point of contact, delivering expert advice on complex HR and employment relations matters, including terminations, disciplinary actions, and performance management
- Conduct detailed client consultations, providing practical, strategic, and compliant solutions to challenging HR issues
- Apply subject-matter expertise to educate and empower clients with best practices, legislative guidance, and compliance updates
- Lead high-level client discussions, offering insights and recommendations aligned with employment legislation and business objectives
- Review and assess client documentation to deliver tailored advice consistent with employment law and contractual requirements
- Manage complex HR cases end-to-end, from initial consultation through resolution, while building strong and trusted client relationships
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation, case law, and HR best practices through continuous professional development
- Consistently meet or exceed KPIs and SLAs, with a strong focus on quality, accuracy, and first-call resolution
- Accurately document all advice, case notes, and client interactions in Salesforce and related systems
- Adhere to internal escalation procedures and exercise discretion when handling sensitive or high-risk matters
- Participate in ongoing training to ensure technical expertise remains current and robust
What You Bring
- CHRP, CPHR, or CHRL designation
- Minimum of 2+ years’ experience in HR or employment relations
- Demonstrated ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational abilities with the capacity to manage multiple priorities
- Experience in a KPI- or target-driven environment (shared services experience is an asset)
