<h3>Job Description</h3><p>Job Description<p><p><strong>Position</strong><strong>: Housekeeping Aide</strong></p><p><strong>Status: </strong><strong>Temporary Full-Time (up to 3 months with possible extension)</strong></p><p><strong>Department</strong><strong>: Environmental Services</strong></p><p><strong>Union Association</strong><strong>: CUPE</strong></p><p><strong>SALARY: $26.27 - $26.68/hour</strong></p><p><strong>Hours: 3:00pm-11:00pm weekdays and weekends (may include holidays) </strong><em>(subject to change based on operational needs)</em></p><p><strong>Position Summary:</strong></p><p>Responsible for maintaining assigned patient or non/patient care area of the Hospital in a clean and sanitary condition in accordance with established cleaning protocols and infection control guidelines.</p><p>Responsible for cleaning project work, garbage collection, furniture moving and room set-up as required.</p><p><strong>Requirements:</strong></p><p><strong>Education and Experience:</strong></p><ul><li>Demonstrated ability to read, understand and follow written instructions; to perform basic arithmetic calculations to determine appropriate proportions for mixing cleaning products and solutions; and the ability to prepare routine written reports normally acquired through the completion of a secondary school graduation diploma and a minimum of 1 (one) year experience or equivalent.</li><li>Ability to relate in a tactful and sensitive manner with staff, patients, volunteers and visitors.</li><li>Preference will be given to those individuals who have had related <span >cleaning/housekeeping</span> experience and have successfully worked as a member of a workplace team.</li></ul><ul><li>Ability to operate and use cleaning equipment such as Autoscrubber, scrubber, vacuum, floor polishers, steam cleaner.</li></ul><p><strong>Knowledge, Skills and Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li>Work requires demonstrated time management and organizational skills to complete assigned tasks and carry out work routines with limited direct supervision.</li><li>Essential duties of the position requires prolonged periods of walking, standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling and lifting (to 50 pounds), climbing, bending and reaching.</li><li>Work requires knowledge of cleaning products, methods and techniques,</li><li>Ability to work independently and/or as a member of a team</li><li>Flexibility to modify routines as required to manage changing priorities</li><li>Ability to successfully complete WHIMIS, product and equipment handling safety programs as a condition of employment </li><li>Wear protective aids when required by Health and Safety to perform the job</li></ul><ul><li>Responsible for furniture moving, room set up if required, and the collection of garbage, waste and soiled linen</li><li>Participate in cycle cleaning project work such as window washing, floor stripping, etc.</li><li>Good attendance and availability</li></ul></p></p>
