High School Math Competition Tutor

Job Description

Position Summary

NOIC ACADEMY is seeking a dedicated and passionate Math Tutor & Math Contest Tutor to support Ontario high school students (Grades 9–12) in both academic mathematics and math competitions (e.g., Waterloo Math Contests / CEMC). The successful candidate will deliver engaging instruction, provide personalized academic support, and help students develop strong problem-solving skills and mathematical thinking.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and deliver effective math tutoring lessons aligned with the Ontario Curriculum (Grades 9–12)
  • Provide academic support for core courses including MPM1D, MPM2D, MCR3U, MHF4U, and MCV4U
  • Prepare students for math competitions such as Waterloo Math Contests, AMC, and CEMC
  • Design and deliver problem-solving workshops and contest-style training sessions
  • Assess student progress and provide individualized feedback and learning plans
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and academic levels
  • Integrate digital tools and online resources into tutoring sessions
  • Maintain a supportive, inclusive, and positive learning environment
  • Collaborate with the Admission Department to assign new students to mentors


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Mathematics, Education, Engineering, or a related field
  • Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification is preferred
  • Familiarity with CEMC / Waterloo Math Contest formats
  • Experience tutoring Ontario high school math courses is preferred
  • Experience with math contests or Olympiad-style training is a strong asset
  • Fluency in Chinese is a strong asset
  • Strong problem-solving skills and clear instructional ability
  • A strong commitment to student success and academic excellence
