<p>Concentric Associates International Incorporated (Concentric) is in search of a Hazardous Materials Specialist to join our Ottawa, Ontario office. Reporting to the Operations Chief, this position will involve a combination of field and office work, providing support to Engineers and Project Managers.</p><p><br></p><p>We require candidates with outstanding verbal and written communication skills, along with a robust understanding of Ontario's environmental and health and safety legislation.</p><p><br></p><p><b>Job Duties</b></p><p><br></p><ul><li>Hazardous materials surveys and/or designated substance surveys, independently and accurately, in accordance with OHSA, O.Reg. 490/09 and O.Reg. 278/05.</li><li>Pre-abatement and post-abatement asbestos inspections as well as final clearance air monitoring.</li><li>Perform CALA accredited PCM Analysis.</li><li>Infection Control inspections in accordance with CSA 317.13-17.</li><li>Indoor Air Quality Assessments.</li><li>Mould Assessments including various types of sampling (air, surface, swab, etc.).</li><li>Provide direction in the field to contractors.</li><li>Calibrate, use and maintain various field monitoring instruments.</li><li>Accurately document and record information collected in the field.</li><li>Data Analysis and report preparation.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><b>Job Requirements</b></p><p><br></p><ul><li>Diploma or degree in an engineering or related program from a Canadian College or University.</li><li>Minimum of one year of experience in an environmental consultancy with a focus on hazardous materials.</li><li>Knowledge of hazardous materials legislation.</li><li>Knowledge of health and safety legislation.</li><li>Proficiency with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).</li><li>Excellent communication and presentation skills.</li><li>Impeccable field notes.</li><li>Strong attention to detail.</li><li>Ability to build positive working relationships with coworkers, clients and contractors.</li><li>Resilience and creative problem-solving skills.</li><li>Strong collaboration, problem solving and conflict resolution skills.</li><li>Availability to work at remote sites for extended periods of time as required.</li><li>Class G drivers license and reliable transportation (car or truck).</li><li>Bilingualism (French/English) is a definite asset.</li></ul><p><br></p><p>We offer competitive compensation and an attractive benefits package that includes a Group RRSP with company matching program, and opportunities for training and skills development.</p><p><br></p><p>If you meet the qualifications for this position and would like to apply, please send your cover letter and resume, along with salary expectations.</p><p><br></p><p>Concentric is committed to a workplace reflecting the diversity of the communities it serves and encourages applications from all qualified candidates.
