Role SummaryThe Electrical Engineer provides technical leadership across board- and system-level designs for clinical-grade ultrasound systems. The role spans requirements definition, architecture, circuit design, layout guidance, bring-up, system integration, verification, and sustaining/obsolescence work.
Key Responsibilities
Lead architecture and detailed design for ultrasound hardware modules (Tx pulsers, T/R protection, low-noise receive chains, precision clocks, high-speed data paths to FPGA/SoC).
Create verification plans; execute bench/system testing, reliability growth, and EMC readiness; drive fault isolation and corrective actions.
Balance performance, schedule, cost, and quality; present options, risks, and trade-offs to stakeholders.
Guide junior engineers; coordinate internal/external design resources and vendors; review and approve design documentation.
Own sustaining engineering for released modules: component obsolescence management, value engineering, and cost-reduction initiatives.
Ensure rigorous design controls (requirements, design outputs, change management, and traceability).

5+ years in complex product development (medical devices, instrumentation, or similar).
Expertise in mixed-signal board design and bring-up; comfort with high-speed interfaces (PCIe/LVDS/DDR/JESD), power architectures, and signal integrity.
Proficiency with lab diagnostics (advanced scopes, spectrum/network analyzers) and EDA/analysis tools (Altium/Cadence; SPICE, SI/PI).
Demonstrated leadership of cross-functional technical deliverables and suppliers.
Assets
Ultrasound domain experience (AFE/beamformer, acoustic front end) and IEC /-1-2 familiarity.
Experience driving EMC/EMI mitigation, reliability testing, and production transfer.
Scripting for test automation (Python/Matlab) and data analysis.
Salary Range
CAD$80,000 – $90,000 annually.
