Dump Truck Driver Atlantic Road Construction & Paving

Atlantic Road Construction & Paving is a large heavy civil construction company specializing in mass excavation, drilling & blasting, pipe & underground utility placement, concrete placement and asphalt paving. We are currently looking to hire reliable and experienced Class 1 or 3 Drivers to join our growing team as a Dump Truck Driver. Reporting to the Transportation Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for transporting construction materials to and from job sites around the HRM in a safe and appropriate manner.

Requirements:

• Valid class 1 or class 3 drivers license.
  
• Clean drivers abstract.
  
• 3 years of commercial driving experience required.
  
• License permitting operation of manual transmission and ability to do so required.
  
• Ability to operate vehicle in a safe manner in all weather conditions.
  
• Must be reliable and punctual.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Check equipment before operating to ensure that mechanical, safety and emergency components are in good working order.
  
• Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulation, and compliance.
  
• Communicate any unsafe conditions or accident/injuries immediately to the supervisor.
  
• Demonstrate continuous efforts to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes and work cooperatively to provide quality customer service.
  
• Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work as required.
  
• Keep detailed and accurate reports and documentation.
  
• Maneuver tandem into loading or unloading positions, follow signals from crew members as needed, check that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned.
  
• Operate equipment such as mobile radios and telephones to exchange necessary information to supervisors or other operators.
  
• Ensure that any debris caused by loading/unloading of equipment is cleaned up.
  
• Available to work Monday to Saturday (some Saturdays are required but not every week)
