Are you a detail‑oriented procurement professional ready to support sourcing and contracting for one of Canada's largest institutional investors? Join the team at BCI as a Procurement Coordinator (Buyer), where you will work closely with corporate and technical teams to ensure efficient procurement processes and effective contract lifecycle management.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Supervisor, Procurement Operations, you will support daily procurement activities by coordinating sourcing and contracting, running competitive processes, managing purchase orders, resolving supplier issues, and maintaining accurate records. You will analyze procurement data to support decision making and performance tracking, while assisting with RFx processes, vendor engagements, and documentation control to ensure efficient and compliant procurement operations.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

The Finance department is part of BCI Operations and is responsible for investment and corporate accounting, valuations, financial statements, and reporting to our clients. The team also leads BCI's budgeting process, tax structuring and compliance, finance client engagement, finance operations, procurement, and investment performance and analytics.

Procurement is responsible for the sourcing, contracting, and management of third-party vendors who provide goods and services in alignment with BCI's values. Procurements are primarily in Professional Services, Contractor Resourcing, and Technology (software, licensing, hardware). The branch includes strategic sourcing, vendor and contract management, and operations functions that collaborate to provide a source-to-pay approach across BCI.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, or a related field; procurement‑related certification or equivalent experience

  • 2–4 years of experience with procure‑to‑pay processes, including PO creation and management, invoice resolution, sourcing (RFQs, RFIs, RFPs), buying and contracting

  • Hands‑on operational procurement experience supporting RFx activities, transactional sourcing, and contract maintenance

  • Experience working with sourcing categories such as contractor resources and managed services

  • Proficiency with e‑signature tools (e.g., DocuSign) and Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint

  • Experience with enterprise procure‑to‑pay systems; Workday is an asset

  • Professional procurement certifications (e.g., SCMP) are an asset

  • Public‑sector procurement experience preferred

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Delivers and supports ongoing operational and transactional contracting activities, including contract documentation, overseeing renewals and extensions, and drafting contract summaries

  • Delivers and supports operational and transactional sourcing activities, including supplier selection and negotiation, in alignment with strategic sourcing and contract plans

  • Assists with the implementation and operation of the procure‑to‑pay process, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, including providing input into workflows and purchase order management

  • Creates purchase orders within delegated authority; monitors purchase orders, expedites delivery, and implements blanket or strategic purchase orders to support efficient and effective procure‑to‑pay (P2P) processes

  • Engages with departmental stakeholders to identify, understand, and document sourcing and contracting needs

  • Resolves supplier issues and maintains supplier account records in Workday, as required

  • Analyzes procurement data and produces reports from Workday, demonstrating proficiency in Excel, including the use of pivot tables

  • Supports and prepares assessments of supply categories, including market scans, surveys, research, benchmarking, and review of operational data

  • Retrieves and analyzes historical and current data to support the preparation of market approaches, negotiations, and identification of savings opportunities

  • Maintains procurement documentation by ensuring proper version control, archiving, and retrieval in accordance with records retention policies

  • Coordinates vendor presentations

  • Supports RFx evaluation consensus meetings, including scheduling, compiling evaluation materials, and managing evaluation data and scoring

  • Proactively identifies risks and issues and proposes sourcing and contracting activities to mitigate impacts for stakeholders

  • Monitors and tracks cost savings, cost avoidance, and other benefits resulting from procurement activities for assigned areas and prepares reporting to demonstrate results achieved

  • Contributes to the continuous improvement of procurement policies, procedures, and systems

WHERE YOU WILL WORK

This role is based in our office in downtown Victoria, BC. Relocation Support is available if needed.

We are an in-person collaborative organization with the flexibility to work remotely 1-day a week.

SALARY RANGE

The annualized base salary range for this role is CAD $78,000 to $88,000.

BCI offers a competitive total rewards package, including a performance-based incentive plan, comprehensive health & dental benefits, a defined benefit pension plan, and paid time off. We pay our people competitively in the markets in which we operate and with consideration for internal equity and job structure. The base salary will consider factors such as the individual's skill set, experience, and internal equity. We aim for actual pay to be around the market median for expected performance and the upper quartile for excellent performance. Actual salaries may vary based on experience and expertise.
