Job Description

Job Overview

Design and engineer communications systems for a major urban LRT project, including passenger information, radio systems, CCTV, public address, and data networks. Ensure reliable, integrated communications infrastructure supporting operations, maintenance, and passenger safety.

Responsibilities

  • Design LRT communications systems including Data Communications System (DCS), radio systems, CCTV, Public Address/Variable Message Signs (PA/VMS), and telephony
  • Develop communications network architecture including fiber optic backbone, Ethernet switches, and wireless access points
  • Prepare communications equipment room layouts, rack elevations, and cable routing plans
  • Design radio coverage solutions including antenna placement, coverage analysis, and interference mitigation
  • Develop CCTV system designs including camera placement, field of view analysis, and video management system specifications
  • Prepare PA/VMS designs for stations and stops, coordinating with architectural and electrical disciplines
  • Specify communications equipment and prepare procurement documentation
  • Coordinate communications interfaces with SCADA, signaling, fare collection, and Operations Control Centre (OCC) systems
  • Support Factory Acceptance Testing and Site Acceptance Testing for communications equipment
  • Develop communications system documentation including installation drawings, test procedures, and O&M manuals
Qualifications

Competencies

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or Computer Engineering
  • Experience with transit communications systems including radio, CCTV, PA/VMS, and data networks
  • Knowledge of IP networking, fiber optic systems, and wireless communications
  • Familiarity with TETRA, P25, or LTE radio systems for transit applications
  • Understanding of video surveillance systems and video management software
  • Experience with communications design software and CAD tools
