<p><strong><span>Huawei Canada has an immediate co-op opening for an Engineer.</span></strong></p><p><strong><span>About the team:</span></strong></p><p><span>The Emerging Storage Lab is a research group based at Huawei Canada's Toronto and Vancouver Research Centres that focuses on next-generation storage technologies and innovations. Our team includes graduate computer engineers and scientists with diverse industry experience, ranging from 0 to over 20 years. This lab investigates topics such as data management, data catalog, data fabric, file systems, storage networks, and AI storage, aiming to advance the field and drive technological progress in data storage in the AI era.</span></p><p><strong><span>About the job:</span></strong></p><ul><li><p><span>Research new style Network Filesystem storage, develop metadata management services, and workload-aware data and metadata access optimization algorithms.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Perform system testing for high availability and reliable data storage solutions.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Develop problem determination solutions and drive toward root cause identification and resolution in storage environments.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Work as part of a high-performance, startup-like team mainly using <em>Python</em> and <em>C++</em> for development.</span></p></li></ul><p><strong><span>About the ideal candidate:</span></strong></p><ul><li><p><span>Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, and registered with the school’s co-op program.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Knowledge and experience in AI/LLM and storage systems, operating system structures.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Good understanding of file systems and LLM processing, such as metadata layout and LLM inference flow.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Proficient in <em>C</em>, <em>C++</em>, and <em>Python</em> programming.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Strong research capability and ability to learn new technologies/products quickly.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Ability to handle complex tasks by assessing issues and breaking down problems to reach optimal solutions.</span></p></li></ul>
