Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated carpenter to join our dynamic team, bringing expertise in various facets of construction and restoration. Key Responsibilities

1. Assist the Site Lead/Lead Carpenter

  • Support the lead carpenters with tasks ranging from setup to cleanup.
  • Help carry out daily work plans as assigned.
  • Ask questions and seek clarification when unsure of tasks.

2. Basic Carpentry & General Labour

Under supervision, perform entry-level tasks such as:

  • Measuring, cutting, and preparing materials
  • Carrying lumber, tools, and equipment
  • Assisting with framing prep, backing, blocking, and layout
  • Installing basic components (e.g., insulation, subfloor, strapping)
  • Helping with exterior prep, site protection, and weatherproofing
  • Supporting simple finishing tasks (casing, baseboard prep, sanding, caulking)

Progression into more advanced tasks will occur as skills develop.

3. Site Organization & Housekeeping

  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas.
  • Remove debris, scrap, and packaging.
  • Keep tools and materials tidy throughout the day.
  • Help protect finished surfaces and installed work from damage.

A clean site is a safe and productive site — this is a major responsibility.

4. Material Handling & Staging

  • Unload and organize materials when deliveries arrive.
  • Stage materials ahead of tasks to support the day's workflow.
  • Communicate shortages or damaged materials to the Site Lead.

5. Tool Usage & Care

  • Use hand and power tools safely and correctly (training provided).
  • Maintain and clean tools at end of day.
  • Identify damaged tools and report immediately.

6. Safety & Compliance

  • Follow Bentley Built Homes' safety policies and PPE requirements.
  • Participate in toolbox talks and hazard assessments.
  • Report unsafe conditions or incidents immediately.
  • Ensure ladders, cords, and equipment are used correctly.

Safety habits are a priority at this development stage.

7. Learning & Skill Development

  • Take direction from the Site Lead/Lead Carpenter.
  • Ask questions and demonstrate a positive learning attitude.
  • Show steady improvement in tool use, carpentry techniques, and site awareness.
  • Shadow more experienced carpenters to gain hands-on knowledge.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Interest in carpentry or residential construction.
  • Previous experience is an asset but not required—willingness to learn is key.
  • Ability to take direction and work as part of a team.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and positive attitude.
  • Physical capability for construction work in all seasons.
  • Basic tool familiarity is helpful; training will be provided.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $22.00-$35.00 per hour
