  • Remote: Virtually from home office for administrative task & planning
  • In-person for scheduled Trades & Tech Truck Events & Trailer/Truck Equipment Maintenance
  • Event locations are across Ontario but with priority in your assigned region

Salary Range:

$58,000-60, hours per week

Job Summary:

Skills Ontario is seeking a dependable, organized, and engaging Trades & Tech Truck Driver / Program Staff member to support the delivery of our mobile skilled trades and technology outreach program across Ontario. Working closely with an assigned Program Facilitator, this role is responsible for the safe operation of a highly customized truck and trailer unit, while also supporting the coordination, setup, and on-site delivery of Trades & Tech Truck events.

The Trades & Tech Truck Driver / Program Staff assists with event bookings and discovery calls, gathers and communicates key logistical details with schools and community partners, and supports scheduling, travel planning, and accommodations for program delivery. This role plays a hands-on part in setting up the trailer, staffing events, maintaining interactive activities, and guiding participants through engaging learning experiences that highlight skilled trade and technology career pathways.

In addition to program delivery, this position ensures the truck and trailer are maintained in safe, compliant, and road-ready condition by coordinating repairs, tracking documentation, and maintaining required driving records. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail-oriented, comfortable with extended travel and flexible hours, and passionate about supporting youth engagement and education in the skilled trades and technology sectors.

Key Responsibilities

· Drive truck/trailer to and from events as well as maintenance appointments.

· Set up the trailer for events and school visits.

· Staff all trailer events.

· Facilitate the Trades & Tech Truck Program to participants.

· Assist Program Facilitator with calls for potential booking applicants to ensure they have all the right information about the Program and our requirements.

· Collect vital information in a timely manner from booking regarding event/school visit logistics such as parking location and share with involved staff members.

· Assist with booking events/school visits for the Trades & Tech Truck in your assigned region as well as across Ontario.

· Work collaboratively with Program Facilitator that is assigned to the unit you are paired with.

· Communicate equipment issues with Manager and Program Facilitator.

· Maintain consistent & collaborative communication with the Program Facilitator.

· Plan travel/routes to and from events.

· Arrange accommodations for overnight stays for events/travel as required.

· Assist with maintaining activities in trailer.

· Ensure all documentation for Truck/Trailer is up to date (License plate stickers. CVOR)

· Schedule all repairs and maintenance for the vehicle.

· Coordinate with teachers and organizers for all logistics of trailer visits.

· Establish and maintain relationships with external stakeholders.

· Assist with any other Skills Ontario Program when required.

· Attend in Person Department training as required.

Requirements

  • Secondary Education: any post-secondary education would be considered an asset.

  • Possess minimum "AR" class license, AZ License is considered an asset.

  • 3 Years driving experience of Class A vehicles.

  • Driving newer Dodge Ram 5500s and pulling a highly customized 38-45ft trailer.

  • Ability to maneuver unit in smaller areas/comfortable driving in high traffic times.

  • Must have/maintain a clean driving record and CVOR.

  • Maintain and use an Electronic Log Book.

  • Knowledge of skilled trades and technology careers will be considered an asset.

  • Ability to work with external stakeholders.

  • Be highly organized and self-motivated.

  • Able to work from home but travel will be required to deliver program.

  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Ability to manage your time and schedule according to company policy & MTO Hour of Service Requirements

  • Access to a reliable vehicle.

  • Knowledge of computers and of basic software, including Outlook and Microsoft Suite.

  • Provide a clean Criminal Record Check/ Vulnerable Screening Check. (Background Checks will be conducted by Skills Ontario for the successful candidate)

  • Must be willing to travel and spends nights away from home when required.

  • Able to work extended hours during scheduled events. Early morning travel is often required on event days along with the commute after event.

  • Fluency required in English, both oral and written. Fluency in French will be considered an asset, but not required.

  • Comfortable with physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, and standing for longer durations during set up, event hours and event tear down.

  • Standard First Aid, CPR, and/or Mental Health First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain.

  • All other duties that may be assigned.
